There are more questions than answers in these photographs.
I have no idea why the Great Blue Heron and Woodchuck are hanging out together. I’m not exactly sure what the heron was hunting on bone dry terra firma. I certainly don’t know what disagreement occurred between the two. I mean, they wouldn’t even face one another.
I do know the woodchuck meandered off peacefully. Later the heron left quietly as well.

The Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge along Lake Erie in Ohio is best known migratory waterfowl. However, it supports any number of migratory song birds and year around residents. This Northern Flicker was a little out of photograph range, but worth the shots.
A Painted Bunting sings on Folly Island, SC. I never got close enough for a crisp photograph, but that didn’t detract from seeing the beautiful bird.
In early October I visited Mohican State Park in Ohio to search for fall photos. The idea was the capture leaves changing color along the banks of the Clear Fork River. I was too early for the foliage. But the lighting on the hiking trail had an unusual quality to it. I have made no adjustments to lighting on these photographs. Only the above photo was cropped.
I honor of Halloween, I present the pasture behind our house.
A few weeks ago the morning sun was casting glorious rays of light through the apple tree in our back yard. I grabbed a camera and soaked my shoes in the cool dew trying to capture photographs of the light.
There were no bleating lambs or jumping calves this spring or summer, so the pasture seems empty and overgrown. For all but 20 minutes in the early morning, it looks just like the above picture.
Fortunately, I walked behind the apple tree to the edge of pasture during that twenty minute window. The sight \struck me much like scientists who first observed the effect of x-ray. See the images below.
The spiders are hid in plain sight, taking full advantage of the tall weeds for their webs. Below is a Black and Yellow Garden Spiders. I welcome correction on my identifications.
